Pakistan’s Mobile Network Landscape in 2026

Pakistan runs one of South Asia’s most competitive telecom markets, with a cellular subscriber base above 200 million and 4G adoption driving nearly all of the remaining growth. Five operators hold PTA licences: Jazz, Zong, Telenor Pakistan, Ufone and SCOM.

PTA regulates every operator, and NADRA biometrically verifies each SIM activation through the Mobile Biometric Verification System. That means every active number in Pakistan is tied to a confirmed citizen identity.

Jazz still leads by a comfortable margin, but the gap has narrowed. The most consequential development remains the PTCL–Telenor merger, which will eventually fold Telenor’s subscriber base into Ufone.
